This event is held under UCI and USA Cycling permits and governed by UCI and USAC rules. UCI rules can be downloaded here.

Licensing and Rules

Riders entering the Elite Women and Men's events must have a UCI license and UCI rules apply in those categories. A domestic USA Cycling license is acceptable for other categories, and are run under USAC rules. Mountain bikes without bar ends are allowed in USAC classes. 

Call Ups/Start Order

Races will be lined-up in the starting grid via the following methods:

  • Men 4/5 and/or 4/5 35+, Junior 15-18
    • Staged by ranking
  • Women 4/5 and Junior 9-14 Boys and Girls
    • Cat. 4/5 Women staged by ranking
    • All boys and girls staged together, first row alternating boys and girls by NECXS Series Points, then ranking
    • 10-14 boys and girls start 1-2 minutes behind the women depending on course
  • Women 3, Junior Women 15-18, Masters Women 40/50+
    • Separate fields for Women Cat 3/Junior Women Cat 3 and Master Women 40/50+ staged 1-2 minutes apart depending on course
    • Cat. 3 Women staged by NECXS Series points for one row of 8, then ranking
    • 40/50+ Women staged by NECXS Series points for one row of  8, then ranking
  • Men 3
    • Staged by NECXS Series Points for one row of 8, then ranking
  • Masters 50+, 60+
    • Separate fields staged 1-2 minutes apart depending on course
    • Staged by NECXS Series Points for one row of 8, then ranking
  • Masters 40+ Men and Junior 15-18 Men
    • All riders staged together by NECXS Series Points for one row of 8, alternating between masters and juniors, and then ranking
  • UCI Elite Women & Men
    • Staged by UCI points, then random draw, per UCI regulations

Racing Age

Your racing age for the 2017-18 cyclocross season is the actual age you will be on December 31, 2018.


No flat bars, or tires wider than 33 mm allowed in UCI events. Mountain bikes without bar ends will be allowed in USAC races.

Pit Access

Only authorized personnel are allowed access to the equipment pits. Pit Passes will be distributed at registration to each competitor (one per entrant) in UCI events (Elite Men, U23, Elite Women, Juniors).

In non-UCI events, common sense will be the rule. The Pit Official will have full authorization to deny access to any person who interferes or hinders operations in the pit. The Pit is not a spectator spot.

2017 ECCC Cyclocross Series

This race is part of the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC) Cyclocross Series. If you are a current full-time student at an ECCC school, you are eligible for competition in the series. Collegiate riders race within the Men and Women's Elite, Cat 3, or Cat 4/5 races and will be scored both within those fields and within their corresponding collegiate categories. To be eligible for collegiate scoring, riders must register under their proper collegiate team name and race in their collegiate team kit.

NOTE: You will be racing in a USAC race not a Collegiate race.  Therefore you must have  a USAC license, with the proper category noted, to race at the Northampton International.  If you do not have a current USAC license you may purchase one online at or on site.
